Tracker Party Barge

Which boat is right for me?

I am looking into buying a boat (only just started looking) and I am not sure which boat would be right for me.

BTW, please don’t tell me just not to get one, that is already something I have considered.

But if I DO get one, I want to know which kind. I was checking out the Track boats, and I saw something very similar to the Sun Tracker Regency Party Barge. How would something like that compare to something more like the Tahoe Q8i in terms of riding/driving experience. I.e, what is the “feel” of driving a boat like each of these?

Here is some information about me- I’m in my early twenties, I live in California and am a very active person. I would like a boat I could take a few friends or family members on, get some excitement, blast some music, etc.

Thanks for the help!

OK, I can give you a short answer just based on your age. Go with the Tahoe runabout/ski boat. You will be miserable in a pontoon.

There that is the simple answer, and the one which is spot on, now I will answer your other questions.

You have two extremely different boats here. The ‘toon will drive like a barge, now I realize the photo they show is the boat up on plane racing along with your co-pilot in a bikini, but that is not what pontoons are designed to do. They are not planing hulls. They are designed to be down in the water, and carry a large load at slow speeds. A boat for older people with a desire to creep along the shore cocktail cruising.

The V-hull Tahoe is designed to get up and go, it is a planing hull. The boat will track nice, turn sharp, and be responsive at almost all speeds. You can ski, wakeboard, and tube all the while carrying passengers and having fun. Add a wake tower and some big time speakers and you have got your excitement.

Tahoe or another comparable v-hull is the boat you are looking for.
