
why does my 27′ searay list portside at an idle?
27; Sundancer, 1999, twin 4.3′s, 360 hours, leans port a couple of inches.
If it’s like that standing still then it’s not ballasted correctly — there’s more weight to port than to starboard. You can move things around down below or you can add weights as far outboard as possible to starboard until the trim is correct.
If the trim is correct but changes when you put the engines in gear, I’d examine the props for one or more bent blades or other damage. If both engines are right-hand-turning you may not be able to do anything about it. because both engines will be trying to rotate the boat counterclockwise, and you’re going too slow for trim tabs to have useful effect. If they’re opposite-turning then the propeller torques should balance each other out unless one is damaged.
Putting two right-hand-turning engines in a lightweight boat shows a certain carelessness in design…
