My wife and I used to vacation abroad 2 or 3 times a year. But when we had 3 kids, foreign holidays became too expensive. So we started camping by the sea at Abersoch in Wales each summer. The kids were happy enough playing on the beach and in the sea (depending on the weather!)

Then a few years ago we splashed out on a Neilson Beachplus Club vacation to Ortokent in Turkey which included learning how to waterski, wakeboard, windsurf and sail dinghies.

We had a great time but couldn’t afford to do that every year. 

After that, going back to playing in the sand at Abersoch didn’t seem very exciting. So we bought a small pre-owned dinghy and pre-owned windsurf on eBay and took them to Abersoch with us to give the children something to do.

But I forgot one thing …

You need wind to sail a dinghy or go windsurfing! 

And the first time we went back to Abersoch after our Neilson vacation there was no wind. So there we were, sat on the beach with a dinghy and a windsurf but no wind! It was then that I decided we needed to buy a speed boat to give us something to do when there was no wind.

Now that may seem a bit extravagant but the way I saw it was that it would be a lot cheaper to buy a used speed boat (that we could use as often as we liked for years to come) than to take a family of five on a two week holiday abroad! So that’s why I bought my first pre-owned speed boat.
